It all began in 2016 with a dad and daughter connecting over football. Although she was a Steelers fan (don’t ask, I still don’t know why) and I, a Packers fan, we wanted to create something together. Out of that was born the Super Snacks Stadium. Originally, it was called the Craft Beer and Dessert Stadium but that just did not flow so it was renamed this year to the “Super Snacks Stadium”. It has morphed from covering half of a ping-pong table to now taking over most of a room (see next picture). On Super Bowl Sunday, we fill the stadium with desserts and beer and invite friends over to watch the Super Bowl Commercials, oh, and the game.
Our Super Bowl party begins with tailgating and corn hole. We run a corn hole tournament for guests and have had some spirited competitions over the years. A year has yet to go by without some type of controversy. Around 6 o clock we are at capacity and have a wide range of foods and activities. Every guest fills out a prop bet sheet and we convert one room into a mini football field with Super Jock Kicker. Other contests over the years have included Super Bowl Trivia, see what guest can call the most coins flips right in a row, and always, best dressed. This year’s theme for the game in Miami is Jimmy Buffett meets Crocket and Tubbs of Miami Vice and of course, your favorite football team gear. Special prize if you can combine all three into one coherent outfit. It is always a fun time with friends, family and neighbors. Our kids even come back from college now for the event.
The Super Snacks Stadium is set up in two waves. The pre-game and first quarter are a tribute to craft beers of the two states represented in the Super Bowl. We find creative ways to store the beers and keep them cold for those adults looking for a cold adult beverage. My favorite was the Viking ship during the 2018 Super Bowl although the beer locker rooms for this year should be fun. At the end of the first quarter a small group of elite dessert handlers magically transform the stadium into the Dessert Bowl. A wide range of desserts are offered from mini cupcakes, to rolo pretzels and jersey cookies and football brownies. It is always a big hit among the kids and yes, most adults.
So continue to check out our site! On the next page you will find pictures of the current stadium which will pay homage to the defunct Orange Bowl, site of 5 Super Bowls, and Margaretville. Of course, the stands and beer lockers are empty for now. But the place will be humming on February 2nd.
